University of Alabama Update - Spring 2025

Members of the University of Alabama’s Interior Design Student Association have had a busy and exciting semester filled with lots of fun events.

We kicked off the semester with a Portfolio Workshop led by three senior interior design students: Maggie Reaves, Ella Krimm, and Ali Byron. These talented seniors shared invaluable tips on layout, graphic design, and presentation techniques.

Another highlight was the Landscape Architecture Workshop, hosted by Matthew Richardson, a junior interior design student. Matthew’s passion for landscape and green design inspired our members and sparked great conversations.

In February, we had the exciting opportunity to tour the iconic Bryant Denny Stadium, where students were thrilled to see the newly renovated locker rooms and event spaces. The highlight of the tour was running through the tunnel onto the football field! Afterward, we hosted a coffee tab event for our mentorship groups, allowing senior design students to offer guidance and expertise to their younger peers.

Networking with professionals is always a valuable experience for our members. In April, we welcomed two local designers, Mallory Van Zile and Mary Lauda Crenshaw, who led a Social Media Workshop. They shared essential tips on effectively marketing and showcasing designs through social media platforms.

To wrap up the semester, we hosted our annual Product/Career Fair at the Hotel Capstone. This event brought together vendors and design firms, giving our students the opportunity to network and make important professional connections that will be key to their future success.
