The Spring semester at Auburn University started with a kickoff of classes on January 11th and a new release of various branded merchandise.
In February, The Auburn Societies (ASID + IIDA) chapters held a Valentine’s Day event on Samford lawn to host flower arranging, charcuterie and candy grams! The month of February kept us busy with the Annual Auburn INDS Product Fair that was held in the Student Activities Center on February 21st from 1-4 pm. Over 50+ vendors and company professionals came to show support for and meet our Interior Design students in the program.
During March, officer elections for the AU Societies were held in tandem with a book signing event featuring notable Auburn alumni, Ashley Gilbreath. Her work in the field of residential design has been published nationally and internationally. It was an honor to be able to host her on campus in the Rane Center and to learn more about her design process and expertise. Following the book signing, the ASID Alabama chapter coordinated with our event planning officer, Molly Morgan, a Pizza Round Table event with special guests, Carla Hall, Lynne Dunn and Cyndy Cantley. This event allowed students to enjoy a sponsored Mellow Mushroom dinner and the opportunity to further their industry knowledge. To wrap up the month of March, the Societies held a spring egg hunt throughout the first floor of Spidle Hall to surprise our members with candy and special prizes!
April brought the end of the semester and many deadlines for our interior design students, so it was only fitting that we held a Coffee Tab at a local coffee shop to provide moral and caffeine support during late nights and long hours. As the semester ended, the new officers for the AU Societies received the baton at the Officer On-boarding Meeting from the old officers, several of whom are graduating seniors. It was a bittersweet goodbye for some, but the turning of a new leaf for The Societies (ASID + IIDA) and Interior Design program at Auburn University!
